Peter Tosh Foundation Advocacy Partners

Bluefields Basic School
A community preschool/early childhood institution serving 30 students with a staff of 5 educators and support personnel in Bluefields.
Following the storm, the school lost its roof and all educational supplies, creating an urgent need for rebuilding, classroom materials, and a safe learning environment for its youngest students.

Belmont Academy
A local secondary/high school serving approximately 1,000 students and a critical educational anchor for the region.
The school sustained extensive storm-related damage, including the loss of science supplies, computer lab equipment, and music instruments and resources, significantly impacting academic instruction and arts programming.

Bluefields People’s Community Benevolent Society
A grassroots, member-based community organization that often serves as a first responder to urgent community needs.
In the aftermath of the storm, the Society mobilized to support its most vulnerable members—including constructing a home for a woman who lost her house and was living in a shipping container used for storage with her three children.
The organization continues to play a central role in emergency response, advocacy, and community recovery.

Bluefields Fisherman’s Society
A local collective representing fishermen and fishing families whose livelihoods depend on healthy coastal waters and functional equipment.
In addition to advocating for economic stability and recovery after storms that disrupt boats, fishing gear, and household income, the Society also provides education on marine ecosystems, sustainable fishing practices, and environmental stewardship—helping to protect local livelihoods while preserving coastal and ocean environments for future generations.

Life Yard Foundation (Kingston)
A Kingston-based nonprofit serving underprivileged children and youth on the south side of Kingston, with programming focused on sports development, life skills training, and health and wellness.
Life Yard also operates a young women’s empowerment initiative called Empress Circle, which provides a safe, affirming space for young women to engage in mentorship, leadership development, self-esteem building, and personal growth—supporting holistic development and gender equity within the community.
